Northwestern Skåne is one of Sweden’s most charming regions, where the sea, cliffs, and countryside meet. It is the perfect area for a weekend trip filled with culture, good food and beautiful nature. It is also the region where I was born and raised so it has a very special place in my heart.
Day 1 – Helsingborg
Start your journey in Helsingborg, a lively city by the water in the summer time. One of the best things to do is to walk or cycle along the seaside path from the city to Sofiero. On the way, stop for breakfast at Brödkultur which is a cozy bakery with fresh pastries and good coffee. When you reach Sofiero Castle, take time to enjoy the gardens, which are famous for their colorful flowers and sea views. For lunch, Pålsjö Krog is a great choice. I would especially recommend the meatballs or the potatoes in creamy dill sauce with gravlax.
In the afternoon, visit Kärnan, Helsingborg’s famous medieval tower. From the top you can see all the way across the Öresund to Denmark. If you feel like a short trip, take the ferry over to Helsingør, where you can try a Danish Pølse and a beer while walking through the charming old streets. Back in Helsingborg, end the day at Helsingborgs Bryggeri which is a local brewery that offers tours and tastings.

Day 2 – Landskrona and Ven
If you have more time, make sure to visit the small island of Ven. The island is located in the middle of the Öresund between Sweden and Denmark. You can take the ferry from Landskrona, just south of Helsingborg. Rent a bike and explore the island’s rolling hills, yellow rapeseed fields and small farms. Stop for a lunch at House of Ven and afterwards enjoy a tasting at the local Spirit of Hven distillery which is known for its whisky and gin.
When you return to Landskrona in the evening, stop by Smörtaxen, a hidden gem offering creative dishes and a fun, laid-back atmosphere.

Day 3 – Höganäs, Kullaberg and Mölle
Continue your trip north to Höganäs. The highlight here is Höganäs Saluhall and Magasin 36, a large food and design hall in an old factory building. You can try local cheese, bread, chocolate, and coffee, all made by small producers. Right next door is the Höganäs Keramik Outlet, where you can buy famous Swedish ceramics at good prices.
Not far from Höganäs lies Kullaberg and Mölle. Kullaberg is a nature reserve with high cliffs, deep caves, and spectacular views of the sea. It is a wonderful area for hiking, climbing or simply enjoying the fresh air. The small fishing village of Mölle nearby is full of colorful houses, small cafés, and nice swimming spots. I recommend you to stop for lunch at Mölle Krukmakeri, a local favorite known for its good pizza. For something special, you can also book a tour to ride Icelandic horses in the nature reserve.

Day 4 – Arild, Skäret and Vineyards
A perfect way to end your weekend in Northwest Skåne is to visit Kullaberg or Arilds Vineyard where you can taste Swedish wines. At Arilds Vineyard you can even stay overnight in cozy glamping tents among the vines. Afterward, take a walk around Arild and Skäret. One of the most popular stops here is Flickorna Lundgren på Skäret, a famous café by the sea. Their homemade cakes are delicious, and locals say that the vanilla heart pastry is even the former Swedish king’s favorite.
